Perform Store Diagnostics?

Store Diagnostics is developed to keep your on-line store in order. Here is the short guide on how it works.

1. "Missing product images"

Ever seen a product with missing image on your website? This diagnostic will show you list of products that have image record in database but corresponding image does not exist on your server. In other words, the list of products that have missing images on your website. You can export the results into Excel file and ask your supplier for missing images. Or you can replace missing images with new ones yourself. Or you can delete the image records from database so missing images do not appear on website.

2. "Images that are not linked to any product"

Each product image in PrestaShop is actually 6 images on your server. Those images are scattered within sophisticated yet complicated architecture. If for some reason images become unrelated to any product in your shop, you won’t be able to find them manually to delete them. This diagnostic scans all your product images and checks whether each of them is related to any product in your database. In result you will see the list of unnecessary images. You can preview extra images and delete them to free space on server and keep it tidy.

3. "Products without images"

This is the simplest diagnostic as it does not require FTP connection to your server. In result you will see list of products that do not have any images assigned. You can export results into Excel file to ask your supplier for images. Or you can add images to products in bulk or separately quickly and simply.

In future versions of Store Manager new diagnostics types will be added aimed on multi store. For example, diagnostics to find products not related to any shop, to clone lang records for all shop languages, etc.

To run Store Diagnostics, select the type of the diagnostics you want to be performed. In order to do so click and select action from drop-down menu next to diagnostics name:

  • "Skip". This type of diagnostics will not be performed.

  • "Run". Diagnostics will run and you will be able to choose what action to perform to results manually.

  • "Run & Delete". Diagnostics will run and default actions will be executed to results automatically*

*if you select this action, then database records related to images and images on server storage may be deleted. Once this is done you will not be able to restore data unless you created backup in advance.

We do not recommend this action if you are using diagnostics for the first time.

We recommend running all types of diagnostics together. If you run “Missing product images” and “Images not linked to any product” separately then images on your server will be scanned twice and it will take twice more time.

To start diagnostics click [Run Diagnostics].

On the progress form you can see a simple log of events, if you click [Show Details] or [Hide Details] if you do not want to see the process

Once the diagnostics is finished, you will see the results. The results are separated, you can see result of one diagnostics at a time. To switch between them, select diagnostics type in drop-down above.

Depending on Diagnostics Type, different actions to the results will be available.

1. Missing product images

The results of this Diagnostics type may be exported to the Excel file and given to a supplier. Thereafter a supplier may provide you with the images that are missing, and you will be able to import them faster in order to update the products with the correct images.

But wait! There is more! You may preview the products with the non-existent images and erase all the records from the database immediately, in order the blank space do not to be displayed at your site instead of images.

But there is even more!!! You may click on one concrete record and assign it to the non-existent image place the new one image, just in 3 clicks.

In conclusion, this tool will easily and quickly eliminate all missing product images. You will never have to ask your customers to inform you about missing product images NEVER!

2. Images with no records in database

When you receive the results list of this Diagnostics type, you will be able to click on a particular record. Then, you will be able to preview the unnecessary image before erasing it.

Also, you will be able to erase all the unnecessary images immediately, and, accordingly, enhance the amount of free space at your server.

3. Products without any image

The results of this Diagnostics type may be exported to the Excel file and given to a supplier. As in a case of first Diagnostics type (Missing product images).

A supplier may provide you with the images that are missing, and you will be able to import them faster in order to update the products without images.

And you will not be disturbed by your customers’ questions or complaints that some of the products at your store are without images.

If the Store Manager users would like to add images by themselves, they will be able to add them directly to the results of Store Diagnostics results. And this entire process will be easy fast and convenient.

Also you may choose the actions to be carried out for the context menu in every Diagnostics grid:

Missing product images

  • Execute Suggested Action – delete record from database.

  • Go to Product – to find the product on the FTP server.

After selecting this option, you will find the product into the Category Product Grid. To make sure, why the product image is missing, go to Image Gallery (under the product grid) and browse the product.

In the FTP browser and you will be able to check the images directory that is missing.

  • Replace Image – in order to replace the missing product image, select this option.

  • Clear results -– to clear the results grid.

Images that are not linked to any product

  • Execute Suggested Action delete file from FTP

  • Clear results - to clear the results grid.

Products without images

  • Execute Suggested Action - add product image

  • Go to Product – to find the product on the FTP server.

After selecting this option, you will find the product into the Category Product Grid. To make sure why the product image is missing, go to Image Gallery (under the product grid) and browse the product.

In the FTP browser and you will be able to check the images directory that is missing.

  • Clear results - to clear the results grid.
